Day 23

6:00 am Rise under the rain.

The night was less cold than the other nights but the atmosphere is quite humid.

Preparations for departure.

Emptying of the Grey/Black water tanks and filling of the Clear water tank

Drying of the linen

7:35 am Departure on the Route 64 under a very covered sky.

Rain and snow on the agenda for the day.

The absence of Internet connection (again!) makes our route random.

We hope that the Road will not be closed after Desert View and especially that it will be accessible to the Truck.

By chance the road is accessible.

9:15 am Arrival at CAMERON

Time change (+1 h/UTC -7)

11: 00 am Cultural stop on the site of HORSESHOES BEND " the horseshoe curve ".

Magnificent place and therefore, very touristy.

Toll of entry 10$ (we forgot to ask about the Pass America Beautiful).

Meal on the spot before taking again the road.

New full of Diesel for the RV.

We begin to take our marks...

The road is beautiful.

16:45 Arrival on our camp place BLM (Bureau Of Land Management) Hurricane CLIFF'S

The access is chaotic we leave on foot to locate the places and to make sure that WilliRoad will be able to reach.

The time to find the available spot through the moor, we settle at the site n°26 facing the mountain.

The view is once again phenomenal, the place extraordinary in the middle of nowhere even if we see in the distance several caravans, campers and RV already installed and several 4X4 criss-cross the roads.

At 6 pm we are finally installed and light our first campfire on which we grill sausages and bread. We are missing a grill that we will have to find for the next campsites.

Quiet beginning of the evening.

A glance at the weather forecast tells us that the night will be rainy. We were afraid not to be able to leave the camp tomorrow at dawn to go to our appointment in HURRICANE, 20 minutes from our place.

So, we decide to pack up in the following minutes to spend the night in a drier place.

It takes us more than 30 minutes to get out of the camp and we take the road to Walmart in Hurricane.

As it should be we ask for the authorization to camp for the night. Authorization REFUSED by municipal order... We have to leave, find another place.

But, in the middle of the night the search is difficult and risky.

After thinking about it, we decide to go back to the BLM and to stay on the area of the entrance of the camp. A priori not authorized but for lack of better we will spend the night there.

Day 24

8:00 AM Rise from camp with the sun.

Drive to HURRICANE for our appointment at FREIGHTLINER for adjustments and various repairs on the truck.

- Adjustments of the range of the headlights

- Repair of the radiator which leaves in pieces change air conditioning + Gas + Oil

- DEF circuit (red engine light)

We will not manage to have the alignment of the trains checked.

As for the headlights, we escaped the dismantling and DIY of the front hood ... the adjustment is done by a wheel what the garage did not know!

We wait for the morning.

Meal at the Mekong Kitchen Hurricane. Very good.

Back to the garage for the afternoon.

Some shopping at the Walmart which refused us the bed the day before...

At the end of the day we go to visit SAINT GEORGE on the advice of Cindy Office Manager of FREIGHTLINER.

SAINT GEORGE: a nice, modern town that hosts the University of DIXIE. We will end the day with a meal at the TEXAS HOUSE, very typical.

Return to our hotel in HURRICANE

CLARION Inn & Suites *** where our comfortable room is waiting for us, with a bath and hot water.
